Meet JMBA

JMBA (Juliana) is a writer, editor, speaker, analyst, and project management specialist. She excels in drawing quick connections, and her desire for deep understanding of subject matter manifests in a smooth narrative flow.

She holds a degree in English & Creative Writing from Emory University, where she was advised by 2020 Pulitzer Prize winner Jericho Brown. At Emory, she was Editor-in-Chief/President of literary anthology The Pulse (she co-created “Symposium” which had its 20th biannual event in Nov 2025); was co-founder of the Media, Literature, and Arts Outreach House (which celebrated its 10th year in 2025); and was co-host of the WMRE Radio Show Poemgranate Seeds. She was also selected to represent Emory poetry by reading at the Decatur Book Festival in 2015. During her time at Emory, Juliana began teaching writing courses, with a specialty in personal essay writing/revision.

Juliana also holds an M.S. in Business Analytics from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, where she focused on storytelling with data and data translation. She was elected as graduation speaker and was awarded as a top 10 business case writer and a top 3 dashboard creator.

Some of Juliana’s favorite corporate roles include blogging and creating an internal newsletter for a global life sciences organization, ghostwriting and editing a law textbook, serving as Chief Storyteller & Creative Strategist at a direct-trade coffee company, working in data storytelling / product management for a national retail pharmacy, and managing PR for a 2 Michelin Star restaurant. In her early career, she considered being a wedding planner and coordinated 2 weddings. Juliana still loves weddings: she has composed prose or poetry for 3 weddings since 2023 and is officiating her first wedding in 2026.

Testimonials

“Planning a secular wedding ceremony with religious parents on both sides was not an easy task. We didn’t want the ceremony to feel rushed, but we also didn’t have pastors or life mentors to help fill the space between our walks down the aisle with emotional sentiment & kind words.

Juliana went above and beyond, writing a lovely poem that captured the ebbs and flows of our long-distance relationship in a positive, light-hearted way. It rang true to our closest friends and family and had everyone laughing thanks to its adorable ending. She brings a rare combination of thoughtfulness, insight, and genuine care to everything she does.”

“When writing job application essays at the beginning of my senior year [of college], Juliana reviewed my essays and helped me secure an invitation to interview at my top choice. The amazing thing was, Juliana primarily took what I had already written and showed me how to re-organize it and re-present in a way that was much more clear and effective. The result: a higher quality and standard of writing. I am very happy that I went to her for writing support.”

“Juliana is a natural teacher. In just eight sessions she had my daughter writing complex and compound sentences while helping her to weave coherent and flowing paragraphs. She made writing fun and Emma actually looked forward to attending her sessions, even in the summer! Juliana gave Emma a solid basis to start the school year and build upon her journey to become a better writer. Best money spent all summer!”

— Mother of Emma B.

“I had the *joy* of working with Juliana. There was no actual job – she came in cold and impressed us so much, we invented a job for her! Juliana is energetic, proactive and a self-starter. She came in as an excellent writer and only improved. With the combination of her skills, her motivation and her friendly, outgoing spirit, I know she will be successful in whatever she does.”

“Juliana helped me with my essays for college applications. She was able to understand my ideas, and she helped me translate those ideas into eloquent writing. I was so proud to submit my work and have become a better writer from working with her.”
